Having only been exposed to his mother’s 90s grunge and his father’s old country albums, James decided at an early age that he wasn’t a fan of music. Then, at age 14 he stumbled upon an infomercial for “The Beatles 1” album…and everything changed.
James got his start playing guitar with some schoolyard chums. They soon realized SOMEBODY needed to pick up the drums, so a band could be formed. Having the best rhythm of the group, the job fell to James.
His first band Vintage gained local renown playing classic rock to the biker scene up and down the Space Coast. More than a few times they were told “I’ve got underwear older than you.” For the next 11 years James held down the beat, but he always dreamed of getting out from behind the drums and fronting a band of his own.
In 2014, the desire for something more and an abundance of pink breast cancer attire inspired his next venture…HOT PINK. At first, the concept of a flamboyant frontman raised eyebrows in bar scene of conservative Florida. But James’ was on a mission to teach people to love something they didn’t think they could accept.
Quickly Hot Pink gained success as the best gigging cover-band in Brevard County, but after seeing professional tribute shows that toured through the area, James thought “this is lame, we can do better!” And the idea to THINK BIGGER would not quiet.
Over the next 10 years, Hot Pink formed a close partnership with the Historic Cocoa Village Playhouse. James has produced over 12 tribute shows and is now taking things a step further with his original written works.
What started as a modest cover-band has blossomed into a professional production company. Today, Hot Pink has left the bar scene behind to entertain sold out venues across Central Florida. They continue to broaden their horizons playing international events, weddings, and for esteemed entities such as NASA and SpaceX.
